The weekend is here and if your a parent with school age kids you no doubt will be deciding by Sunday night whether to feed your kids school lunch or prepare a menu for the week. At our home we use a creative mix to bring some balance and much needed nutrition to our very active 16 year old. His sport (XC/Track) demands a fair amount of thought, fuel and variety of nutrients to keep him in peek condition. But, whether you have a an active athlete on your hands or not – the task of deciding on what your kids eat at school is always important. In this the first of several posts on the topic of nutrition for young people, I turn to an article from Slate magazine in which I participated as a specialist in Holistic Nutrition. The article focuses on some of the more popular “premade” lunch alternatives on the market. It’s a quick read but one that may cause you to start thinking about what you put into your child’s body! As always, please feel free to share your thoughts on the subject.
